On this episode of Business Over Breakfast we welcomed Chris Mejias the general manager of Escape Rhode Island. Escape Rhode Island is a real-life mystery space where you and your teammates have to solve a series of puzzles to escape the room.
“It’s part theater, part game, part haunted house”, Mejias shared. If you like to be challenged, use your imagination, and work well with others this is the place for you. And the best part is no escape room is the same. Once you’ve completed a room you can go back for more!
Each year Escape Rhode Island tries to create a new room for its customers. Due to the pandemic and businesses being closed for a period of time, they had to think outside of the box - and now you can get the escape room experience virtually right on their website!
“It's fun to have that creative side to you, you’re not only running a business but it's constantly creating and adapting and there's always something new we can be working on”, said Mejias.
In addition to a virtual room, they recently created the outdoor travel experience where you grab a bag and use your surroundings to guide you through the puzzle. Due to the pandemic safety measures have been put into place for the indoor rooms to operate. Masks must be worn at all times and the rooms are on a strict cleaning schedule. Ben Barber, of D&B Media, alludes to the fact that everyone in Rhode Island is ready for an escape from the pandemic and shares “It's full immersion. You go into the room, you’re with your friends, it’s in person.”
